Have you been trying to get into the habit of journaling lately? Are you intimidated with the idea of journaling? Maybe you’re afraid that you wouldn’t know what to write or have nothing to write at all.

Don’t worry. There might be a journaling method for you – One Line a Day. It is a journaling technique that only requires you to write one line of every single day.

Tip If you use fountain pens, we recommend that you try Leuchtturm1917’s Some Lines a Day

Journaling is quite a therapeutic exercise and you might be able to benefit from it. One Line a Day is a good start and there are a lot of advantages with this technique.

It’s quick

One of the best things about the One Line a Day journaling exercise is that it’s quick and simple. All you need to do is to take out your journal and then write down anything that comes to mind.

You can keep one notebook for 5 years

Most One Line a Day journal books can last from 3-5 years. It can fit in one notebook of at least 365 pages – one page for each day of the year. You can keep it for 5 years because typically, one day will cover 5 years (5 “lines”).

Start anytime of the year!

One Line a Day journals are not bound to a single year unlike the traditional planners. It is designed for the user to dictate when they start or when they end.

You would be able to look back past events (easily)

Because you can pack 5 years in one notebook, you can easily flip through pages and look back on what you’ve written in the past. Writing in a 5 year journal starts to gets interesting especially when you’re at your 2nd year of journaling. At the second pass at the journal, you will be able to see what you’ve written in the past year. It may be good, it may be bad but it’s a nice little retrospective of your life.

What can you write in your journal?

  1. Memories
  2. Emotions
  3. Small wins
  4. Important events
  5. Milestones
  6. Reflections
  7. Song lyrics
  8. Quotes
  9. Funny stories
  10. New lessons
