Update from Ryder: Sold out! Thank you for your overwhelming support! Restocking as fast as we can, but due to coronavirus it’s going to be a while.

I couldn’t be more excited to announce the launch of an entirely new notebook: Edition 2! Designed based on years of community feedback, it’s packed with new features. From the smart grid, to the sustainably sourced 120 GSM paper, there’s so much to talk about that I even wrote an article about it. Edition 2 was a real labor of love, and I hope it serves you well.

Ryder Carroll

Ryder Carroll, founder of the Bullet Journal Method, announced the launch of Edition 2 – the latest version of the official Bullet Journal notebook on December 1st.

The difference between the first version

Edition 2 is packed with more features compared to the original notebook. One major difference is that the pages are now 120gsm thick compared to the thinner 80gsm from their Leuchtturm1917 version. Thicker paper, however, means that this notebook will have 50 pages (only with 204 numbered pages) less compared to the original one.

The latest notebook comes in 2 color variants: Black and Blush.

What’s New?

Grid Guide

The Grid Guide isn’t completely new in the community. A few Bullet Journalers have DIY’ed grid guides for themselves.

The grid guide act as a guide when creating custom layouts. Edition 2 comes with a grid guide that is printed on the hard cover of the notebook. The grid guide isn’t detachable but the placement still makes it easily accessible to the user.

Smart Grid

Aside from the grid guide, the inner pages of the book has subtle markers. These act as a guide to help divide the page without needing a ruler or counting boxes every single time you create a layout.

Pocket Guide

What’s an official Bullet Journal notebook without a guide, huh? The first edition also came with a guide but did not come separately. In Edition 2, the pocket guide is independent of the notebook so that the user can keep it as reference in the future.

Sticker Sheet

One of the things I find interesting in the Edition 2 is the inclusion of a sticker set! Creating the same monthly log layout every month can get a bit boring. With this sticker set, all you need to do is grab a sticker and viola – a nice, clean monthly log. To be honest, I kind of wish the sticker set was sold separately (maybe in the future? throwing hints at Ryder here).

Edition 2 has a lot of quality-of-life improvements to help novice and beginner Bullet Journalists in there BuJo journey. This notebook definitely keeps both traditional and customized bullet journaling styles in mind. The thicker paper, which is mostly beneficial for those who enjoy decorating their Bullet Journal, and the grid guides for those who create custom layouts, and sticker set for those who use the traditional monthly log but still want it look ~neat or ~pretty~.

The notebook sold out fast but they are trying their best to restock as fast as they can; however, the date cannot be determined at this point. If you want to get your hands on this (and I suggest that you do), make sure you sign up to the Bullet Journal newsletter or here at Rediscover Analog to get updates.
