Amanda Lee is a Canadian YouTuber and is well-known for her Bullet Journal and stationery videos (amongst other things). On November 15th, she announced on YouTube that she will be launching her own planner collection called the 2020 Doodle Planner (named after her fans, “Lil Doodles”).

What we know about the 2020 Doodle Planner

It’s a pre-dated planner

Amanda is practices the Bullet Journal Method (creatively) and has been known in the community for her creative monthly layouts. While she is a bullet journalist, her planner collection is a traditional planner (with a little bit of personality).

This is NOT a Bullet Journal notebook. Amanda herself has clarified on Youtube that “as an added note because this seems to be some confusion: This is not a bullet journal nor is it a blank dotted notebook. I have never called it a bullet journal. This is a planner meant for people who don’t have time to make fun spreads! Hope this clears things up!”

The 2020 Doodle Planner has 12 themes which are hand-drawn by Amanda herself. The planners are also designed similarly to her current bullet journal setup.

Aside from the monthly calendar, there are also horizontal weekly spread for daily tasks.

The planner has trackers and goal setting pages

In her announcement video, she mentioned that she created this planner that not only focuses on productivity but also help with mental health. The 2020 Doodle Planner also has a few blank pages so that you can still customize your planner.

160gsm paper, 222 pages

Amanda is an artist who has a huge collection of stationery. She also enjoys filling her Bullet Journal with colors that’s why her go-to notebook was one that had 160gsm paper.

She wanted to offer the same experience to her potential customers and that’s why the Doodle Planner also has 160 gsm paper. You can use any medium of your choice and not worry about ghosting or bleeding (with the exception of alcohol-based markers, such as Copic).

The paper is thick and covers the entire year so expect this to be thicker than your usual Moleskine or Leuchtturm.

Is this fountain pen friendly? We don’t know yet. We’ll find out soon. Just remember that not all thick papers are fountain pen friendly.

Update: Amanda confirmed on Instagram that it’s fountain pen ink friendly. Based on her samples, it doesn’t bleed and it doesn’t seem to feather.

There are five colors available

The Doodle Planner is made out of vegan leather with foil embossments (Amanda’s artwork) in the front and back.

  • Black
  • Grey
  • Camel
  • Teal
  • Pink

It’s US$45.90
