Early this year, Ilford introduced a new reusable film camera – the Sprite 35-II. It’s a plastic point-and-shoot film camera that serves as an alternative to disposable film cameras. The Sprite 35-II’s design is inspired by their original Sprite camera.

The packaging
Packaging was simple. It came in a plastic box with a few reading materials and a wrist strap.
The body
The Sprite 35-II is a small plastic camera. It’s smaller than an iPhone 11 Pro but is 1.5 inches thick – so it’s not always pocketable.
It’s important to note that this camera comes with a built-in flash and is operated with 1 AAA battery.
Since this is a simple reusable camera, this does not wind automatically (like the more “modern” point and shoots). The film advance is easy to wind unlike some plastic cameras. Some plastic cameras have shallow ridges and are tough to wind when your hands are a bit sweaty or maybe when wearing gloves during the winter.
Film advance
It has a viewfinder, just like most point-and-shoots, and gets the job done.
Some sample photos
The recommended film to use is ISO 200 / 400 / 800 (this was surprising to be honest). Unfortunately, I had forgotten about it and the test roll that I used was the Fujifilm 100. The results weren’t bad but just a bit underexposed – which was something I did not expect because I used this camera during the brightest time of the day.
The output was alright. I might need to do another test with this camera with a Lomo 400 film or maybe one of Ilford’s own films.
Wrapping up
The Sprite 35-II originally had 2 color variants, the Black and the Black & Silver. I originally wanted the silver variant but luckily, the black one was sent to me. I highly recommend purchasing the black one for a more “premium” look. The silver/black model does have that “classic” film camera look. I’ve seen photos of the silver variant and it doesn’t look as good as it was compared to the early renders of the product. It looks more plastic-y compared the the black one.
If you want more color options, then you are in luck. Moment offers other colorways. Choose between the red, blue, and teal – all of which have the black or silver as the base color.
You can get yours from Moment and they start at around $35.
