Lomography, a company focused on film photography, introduced the newest addition to the LomoChrome experimental film line – the LomoChrome Metropolis.
This film will be the first new color negative film to hit the market since 2014, the last being the LomoChrome Turquoise.
Over the weekend, Lomography has teased on their Instagram that they have a new film in the works. Their promo screamed LomoChrome because in the past, they have released the LomoChrome Turquoise (2014) and the LomoChrome Purple (2013, 2019). The Lomography community speculated that they would simply be launching a new film called LomoChrome Yellow, similar to its predecessors.
Metropolis #NoFilter
On July 16th, they have revealed that the new experimental color negative film is not a yellow but black. According to their Kickstarter, the LomoChrome Metropolis “pays homage to the mother of all colors: black”. The Lomography team has been able to collect different ingredients to create a new composition, using “new emulsion types in different layers and in new arrangements”.
The LomoChrome Metropolis pushes the envelope with this film. Metropolis is basically a tangible VSCO/Instagram filter. The film produces muted, desaturated, and high contrast photos, resembling some filters on Instagram with +100 lux.
