If you’re new the the vinyl record hobby (like me), you’ve probably come across “Record Store Day”. It’s a simple concept – it’s the vinyl collectors’ Black Friday or Prime Day.
Record Store Day is an annual event that celebrates independent record stores and the culture surrounding vinyl records. It was founded in 2007 and typically takes place on the third Saturday of April each year.
The first RSD took place in April 19, 2008
During Record Store Day, independent record stores worldwide collaborate with artists and labels to release exclusive vinyl records, often including rare or previously unreleased tracks, special editions, and reissues of classic albums. These participating stores also host live performances and other events to attract music enthusiasts and vinyl collectors.
Record Store Day aims to support independent record stores and highlight the importance of analog (vinyl) in the digital age. It has grown significantly since its inception and has become a highly anticipated event for music lovers, collectors, and artists alike.
View the 2024 RSD Official List on recordstoreday.com. It is important to note that the Record Store Day website does not sell the releases. There is no website where the records on the list can be pre-ordered. Check out participating stores on the RSD website.
Personally, I’ve only found a few titles I’m interested in – maybe the Remi Wolf Live at Electric? or the Wilco album?
