Pebble Stationery has added a new notebook to their Tomoe River notebook line-up – and it’s made to fit the Traveler’s Notebook. In August, founder Lois Ho, announced the launch on their blog. Their launch announcement introduces two types of Tomoe River notebooks – one blank notebook and an undated planner.

Both releases are in a brand new size for us here at Pebble Stationery Co and is designed to fit in the Regular sized Traveler’s notebook (110x210mm). Having said that, they have been designed so that they can be used alone or in a notebook cover, so that you aren’t tied to a particular system.

This review will cover the blank TN Tomoe River notebook.

Quick Look

When you receive your notebook, it will come packaged in plastic and a belly band with the branding and the notebook information.

Most Tomoe River TN inserts come with covers with a card stock material and is staple-bound – but not Pebble’s. Pebble Stationery Co.’s notebooks almost always come with beautiful covers. This TN notebook has a vegan leatherette cover with a subtle engraving of their brand. The cover is nice and thick enough to protect the notebook when you keep it unprotected in your bag.

The notebook comes with a pre-printed index. Typically index pages are home to a notebook’s table of contents or indexing for Bullet Journal.

This is a blank 5mm dot grid notebook which is pretty standard. It also comes with ribbon bookmarks which is quite rare for TN sized notebooks or any Tomoe River notebook for that matter.

Paper Quality

The notebook has 200 pages of 52gsm Tomoe River paper. In case you aren’t aware, Tomoe River is a premium quality paper manufactured in Japan. It is highly sought out by fountain pen enthusiasts because of the way it highlights the properties of fountain pen inks.

Overall Thoughts

Pebble Stationery’s TN Tomoe River is the most unique TN insert that has ever landed on our desk. The built and design of this notebook is durable and can be used independent of a Traveler’s Notebook. This notebook is perfect for Bullet Journalists who use fountain pens because of the combination of provisioned index, numbered pages, Tomoe River paper, and the ink swab page.
