TWSBI announced on Tuesday (July 9) that they will be releasing a new color for the Eco-T fountain pen – TWSBI Eco-T in Coral. It will hit stores on July 23, 2019.

TWSBI seems to be catching up with the current and past Pantone Colors of the Year. 2018’s Color of the Year was Ultra Violet and a year later, TWSBI launched the violet TWSBI 580ALR. In the latter part of 2018, they released the TWSBI Eco in pastel pink and pastel blue which coincidentally, both Pantone color(s) of the year in 2016. They have also released a green Eco-T in early 2018 (Greenery is Pantone Color of the Year in 2017).

This year, Pantone Color of the Year is Living Coral which is described as “coral hue with a golden undertone“. Based on the photo provided by TWSBI, the new Eco-T’s Coral is close to the Living Coral color.

Difference between the TWSBI Eco and the Eco-T

The TWSBI Eco and the TWSBI Eco-T are the same. Same nib, same piston-filling mechanism, same body – the only difference is the grip section and the cap.

The Eco-T has a slightly more triangular grip section (but not like the Lamy Safari or Al-star. From their website, they stated that the pronounced grip section is designed to help with “learning correct writing posture for kids, new enthusiast, and anyone who likes a little bit more structure to the grip area.”

As for the design of the cap and the end cap, they are triangular in shape (presumably what the “T” stands for) unlike the TWSBI Eco’s hexagonal cap.
